20 I remember my afflictions and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me.
21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassion never fail.
23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for Him."
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
27 IT IS GOOD FOR A MAN TO BEAR THE YOKE WHILE HE IS YOUNG.
28 Let him sit alone in silence, for the Lord has laid it on him.
29 Let him bury his face in the dust - there may yet be hope.

The bolded verse was actually shared in one of the prayer meetings last month.
I pondered on this verse. So I thought i'll just pen (type) some of my thoughts here.
"It is GOOD for a man to bear the yoke while he is young."
In this journey that we are on, many times... i see so much heartache & challenges that so many people face & go through... & faced my fair share too.
Each time we face a challenge... it never seems to be GOOD. Yet in this verse... it says that it is GOOD for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.
Some more say when he is YOUNG! Yet so many young people rejects the hardship that we face in their 'young' days. Hence, many go into depression, denial, etc.
Just a little bit in front of this verse, it says "Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have HOPE". What is this hope that the author (said to be Jeremiah) have???
It is the hope of (v22) "the Lord's great love, of His unfailing compassion... which is NEW every morning"... hence GREAT is GOD'S faithfulness!!
It is really important that in our challenges... we see it as GOOD! If the 'yokes' that we face are rejected, how then can we have the strength to face harder things in our older age.
"Live your life such that the 2nd half of your life is better than the 1st half of your life"
We see many older people that are battered & bruised & their whole outlook on life is almost depressing!! This could be because when they were faced with challenges in their youth... they didn't see it as 'good'.
Probably... the goodness of bearing our yokes while we are young is so that we will have the strength to face the 2nd half of our lives with confidence & stature. Not that which we built ourselves... but that of God's GREAT love & unfailing compassions, which is new every morning! :)
Are you resenting a challenge that you have in YOUR life?
Do you feel hopeless in your current 'difficulty' (however big or small it is)?
Is your yoke to heavy that you don't want to carry it anymore?
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
