Hey guys, ChRisE here writing to you from a cybercafe here in Ipoh Parade. Thank goodness I'm here, if not....... hehehe. Well, this is my 11th day away from KL here in Perak. I've spent the last 10 days at my campus undergoing an orientation programme. Just imagine, 10 days of orientation and everday consisted of events non-stop from 8am to 12am onwards with the occasional dinner, lunch and tea breaks in between. It's been a really hectic and tiring week but what kept me going through the week was actually one of the daily programmes during orientation, Moral/Inter-Cultural Module. You see, every day the Malays will go the mosque in the evening and so all the international and local students who are not muslim will undergo this module.
In reality, it's not really a module but just a real fun time playing those ice-breaker games and just getting to know everybody else much better, and it's definitely increased my circle of friends. I've got to know people from all over Malaysia really, some from East Malaysia and some from the Peninsular. However, I've got a problem.... COMMUNICATION. You see, most of the chinese friends I've made, girls in particular speak, well....... CHINESE (Mandarin to be exact). It's not that they can't speak English or anything because if they couldn't, they wouldn't be here mind you but you know when one group of them gets together, they just all speak in mandarin and I couldn't feel more left out. It's not too bad though, I've made a couple of friends who do speak English most of the time, Chinese and Indian, guys. So now, I'm trying to pick up Mandarin with the help of some of the girls and perhaps anyone else (anyone from Simply United? ehheheheh). You might wonder, why am I so eager to learn Mandarin? Well basically, it's because I need to *humz, hehehehhehe and also to communicate with the others better.
If any of you have enquiries as to what *Humz is, please ask Chris Wee, he has the best explanation for it. =) Anyway, the most interesting thing throughout the entire week was this thing we did for the Moral programme, it's called 'Guardian Angel'. Here's what happens, everyone will write their name on a piece of paper and all the names will be put into a bag/hat/whatever you like. Then, the girls names will be passed to the guys and the guys names will be given to the girls. What happens is that for whichever name you get, you have to take care of that person for the entire orientation week without letting them know who you are. So if let's say I got passed a paper with Tze Teng's name on it, I would have to take care of her (presents, sms, etc) without letting her know it's me. So, God really blessed me (tee hee) with this girl that I was hoping to get, wahahhahahahhahaha, super *humz. So yeah, like sent messages, gave some presents and etc which all led to getting to know her better which is kind of the objective of the whole thing, Unfortunately, she found out who I was before the whole thing was over which kind of spoiled the fun but no matter, on the final day of the moral programme, I actually gave her a short letter that I had written before hand, hahahahah, super *humzter me, wahahahhaha. It was kind of about, it was really nice to know her and everything and hoping to know her much better in future and as a pleasant surprise, she messaged me and told me the letter was touching and she actually 'promised' (don't know how true is that) we'd be close friends, wahahahhahah. I feel so *humz man... We'll see how that goes.
Anyhow, I know what I'm here in university for, not to like kao lui or anything but you know, it's just fun to know people, hahaha, just to *humz, not anything serious so don't worry. Anyway, I've been able to meet some Christians here from Ipoh so I think I might be following them to church, I think, not so sure yet. What's even cooler was that I got to meet a South African senior who's also a Christian which was a pretty good experience. To be quite honest, I don't know what else to write, not that there's nothing to write but I think my mind is a little blank right now, hahaha! Well I guess I can say though that I do miss you guys over at Simply United and even if I go back to KL, it'd be pretty impossible to meet you guys on Friday but anyways hope you all are doing fine.
Yours truly,
Christon

Christon! So glad to hear from you! Things do feel different without you in Simply United. How come it's mostly the guys who are falling in numbers? Jamie ...
Oh well, Tronoh really isn't that far away. Remember to put God first in everything you do. It's important that you surround urself with people who have got the right attitude. There's always a danger when you leave your comfort zone and go to a new place -- that you will stray from Him. ahayayayayayayya why am I saying all this!!!
I'm sure we'll be keeping in touch here. Take care and *humz ... I am so all for that *humz too. Makes me feel 4 years younger which is so great! WAKAKAKAKAKKAKAK
